The Missouri Veterinary Dermatology Center is seeking a full-time technician to join our team in Wentzville, Missouri.
As the only Board-Certified dermatology specialists in Missouri, we are a very busy practice providing services to pet owners and referring veterinarians of the greater St. Louis area. Our goal is to provide high-quality and patient-focused care to improve the quality of pets' lives through our specialized knowledge and care.
We train our technicians to assist in all aspects of care including: exams, ear and skin cytologies; skin scrapings, fine needle aspirates, biopsies, cultures, intradermal and serum allergy testing; video-otoscopy, and laser surgeries. Additionally, we make all of our allergen specific immunotherapies in-house for a growing number of patients.
We are seeking a candidate with previous veterinary experience and an active vet tech license. Our ideal candidate would have have at least 2 years of experience in veterinary medicine, an interest in Dermatology, and the desire to continue to advance their skills and knowledge in the veterinary world.
Because such a large portion of Dermatology practice includes client education and communication, we are also seeking someone with excellent communication skills who loves to share knowledge and teach.

Required Skills:
- Veterinary experience required
-Active technician license (state of Missouri or ability to transfer)
- Proficient in venipuncture, IV catheter placement, monitoring anesthesia/sedation, use of stethoscope, and animal handling.
-Professional communication in-person, by computer, and/or telephone
- Willingness to learn and grow within your role
- Ability to lift 40 pounds, walk, bend, stand, squat, or reach constantly during a minimum 8-hour day
Duties will include but are not limited to:
- Assisting in exams and procedures
- Inducing, monitoring, and recovering patients from anesthesia and/or sedation
- Use of microscope to read cytology and other dermatology samples
-Obtaining patient history and performing brief physical exams
- Collect and read cytology samples
- Accurate record keeping and relaying of information to doctors and other team members as needed
- Fill and dispense prescriptions and medications as directed
- Assist in instruction of third- and fourth-year veterinary students during clinical rotations
- Cross-train to cover phone/reception duties as needed
- General hospital cleaning, restocking, and maintenance as needed
