Academy of Dermatology Technicians (ADVT) began as a shared dream of dermatology veterinary technicians that became acquainted while attending the annual national dermatology conferences back in the early 1990’s. With determination and hard work, we made this dream a reality!
The National Academy of Veterinary Technicians of America (NAVTA) Board approved our name (Academy of Dermatology Veterinary Technicians) and acronym (ADVT) in May 2008 when the initial letter of intent was submitted to NAVTA
The first official meeting of organizing committee members was held at North American Veterinary Dermatology Forum (NAVDF) on April 16, 2009 in Savannah, Georgia
ADVT’s updated letter of intent was sent to the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America (NAVTA) Council of Veterinary Technicians Specialties (CVTS) in September 2014
ADVT petition was submitted to NAVTA on March 17, 2015
ADVT became a 501c3 Non-Profit Organization in the state of Minnesota June 10, 2015.
ADVT was granted official recognition by NAVTA in August 2015 In January of 2016 at the North American Veterinary Conference (NAVC) in Orlando, Florida, the President and President-elect were presented with our recognition plaque
ADVT offered the first VTS (Dermatology) credentialing examination in April 2017 at NAVDF in Orlando, Florida.
